Committee
We are a passionate, Australian adoptee-led organisation dedicated to advocating for South Korean adoptees whose human rights have been violated by the South Korean Government, Eastern Social Welfare Society, and the Australian Federal and State Governments.
Founded and led by five Australian Korean adoptees who have all been impacted through Korean adoption to Australia. Our mission is to seek answers and accountability for the Australian Korean adoptee community.
Meet our Team
Anna
Anna shared her story with ABC’s Background Briefing, where it was first revealed that doctors were being paid bribes by ESWS (Eastern Social Welfare Society) in exchange for babies. This exposure helped shed light on the corrupt practices surrounding South Korean adoptions.
Blossom
Blossom has conducted extensive research on South Korean adoptions into Australia, analysing government agreements, adoption legislation, and adoptee and adoptee parent documentation. Her research is integral in understanding the legal and systemic aspects of intercountry adoption.
Samara
Samara is an academic researcher examining globalised commercial adoption through decolonial, critical race, and whiteness lenses. Her current work focuses on human rights and racial dignity in Australian–South Korean intercountry adoption. Grounded in lived experience, her research explores the profound realities of being adopted from Korea, situating Korean adoption to Australia within the broader context of the nation’s history of forced child removals and adoptions. She is committed to amplifying lived experience and a critical adoptee standpoint across Australian discourse, media, policy, and practice.
Pippa
Pippa shared her story with SBS and The Age, and has been lobbying federal ministers for a government inquiry into Australian-South Korean adoptions. Her advocacy continues to highlight the need for formal investigations into these injustices.
